McCormick Tribune Foundation Helps Rebuild Gulf Coast Communities with Final Round of Grants
Hurricane Katrina Relief Campaign awards more than $2.7 million to 25 agencies
CHICAGO, June 15, 2006
The McCormick Tribune Foundation Hurricane Katrina Relief Campaign has announced its
final round of approved grants to 25 agencies focused on strengthening and supporting
communities impacted by the widespread devastation. More than $2.7 million will be distributed
to the following agencies in Texas and Georgia as well as along the Gulf Coast to address the
long-term needs—including literacy, employment skills and permanent housing—of children and families
impacted by Katrina:

“On the strength of people’s generosity, the McCormick Tribune Foundation was able to
meet many needs of last year’s hurricane victims by supporting agencies that addressed
immediate relief and long-term recovery,” said David L. Grange, president and chief executive
officer of the McCormick Tribune Foundation. “The McCormick Tribune Foundation would like to
thank its donors and program partners across the nation for making this effort possible.”
The McCormick Tribune Foundation and many of its communities program partners—newspapers,
broadcasters and sports teams—established the McCormick Tribune Foundation Hurricane Katrina
Relief Campaign to raise money for victims of the hurricane, which swept through the Gulf Coast
on Aug. 29. In total, the foundation and its partners raised more than $9.4 million from nearly
47,000 donors, and the foundation added $1 million in matching funds to this amount.
