McCormick Tribune Foundation Helps Rebuild Gulf Coast Communities with Third Round of Grants
Hurricane Katrina Relief Campaign awards more than $3 million to 23 agencies
CHICAGO, Feb. 17, 2006
The McCormick Tribune Foundation Hurricane Katrina Relief Campaign has announced its third round
of approved grants to 23 agencies that are focused on strengthening and supporting communities impacted
by the widespread devastation. More than $3.7 million will be distributed to the following agencies to
provide housing, home rebuilding, education services, counseling, food and transportation assistance, and
health care services to children and families impacted by Katrina:

“The McCormick Tribune Foundation continues to balance the needs of families who have become permanent
residents in new locations, with those who have chosen to return to their Gulf Coast homes,” said David L. Grange,
president and chief executive officer of the McCormick Tribune Foundation. “It is the foundation’s hope that these
grants will help stressed agencies provide recovery services to these families and get their lives back to some
normalcy.”
The McCormick Tribune Foundation and many of its communities program partners—newspapers, broadcasters
and sports teams—established the McCormick Tribune Foundation Hurricane Katrina Relief Campaign to raise
money for victims of the hurricane, which swept through the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29.
The McCormick Tribune Foundation Hurricane Katrina Relief Campaign, which stopped accepting donations on
December 31, 2005, raised nearly $9.3 million from more than 46,000 donors, and the foundation has added
$1 million in matching funds to this amount. Thus far, more than $7.6 million has been distributed to
nonprofit agencies providing services to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Remaining dollars raised will be
distributed in spring 2006.
